Ashland Hiking Home
Seven of us -- Debi, Collette, Kay, Rich, me and newcomers Cori and Joan spent a gorgeous morning up at Steve's Stark's 40 acres of paradise. This was our first WW foray to this location, and Steve didn't think we'd find much, but glad to say he was wrong. We found over 40 species of plants, many we had never seen before. Forward momentum was pretty slow, but that is what it's all about!
The seasonal lake on the property has shrunk to a pond, leaving behind all sorts of flowering plants that thrive in this seasonal wetland prairie environment. The highlight was coming upon a shimmering silvery pink acre of Prairie Smoke. Truly stunning.
Steve offered cold water at the end of our circumnavigation to us "Weed Walkers", as he called us. We will definitely be back next year.
